Emulab FAQ: Testbed Operations: How do I deal with switch "VLAN edit buffer request failed" errors?

> VLAN edit buffer request failed - try 5 of 40.
> VLAN edit buffer request failed - try 10 of 40.
> VLAN edit buffer request failed - try 15 of 40.
> VLAN edit buffer request failed - try 20 of 40.

This most commonly occurs when boss loses IP connectivity to an experimental net switch. I would trying pinging (both?) of them from boss, and I suspect you'll see that you can't get to one.

It could also be:

1) snmpit died at some point while holding the lock. If this is the case, snmpit -l should still work

2) The snmp cmmunity string for a switch could have somehow gotten changed on the switch or in the switch_stack_types table.
